Kevin Kilbane believes Stoke City have enough fire power to beat Liverpool in the League Cup semi-final.

The Reds make the trip to the Britannia Stadium for the first leg on Tuesday night after a 2-0 loss to West Ham United at Upton Park on Saturday afternoon.

Stoke, meanwhile, saw their two-game winning run come to an end on Saturday afternoon after a 2-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.

Liverpool have won the League Cup on eight previous occasions after Kenny Dalglish guided the Reds to their ninth crown at Wembley in May 2012.

However, former Republic of Ireland international Kilbane believes Stoke will cause Jurgen Klopp’s side plenty of problems on Tuesday night.

“I fancy Stoke,” Kilbane told BBC Sport.

“Seeing the way they played against Everton, even when they were 3-2 down, they still had a bit about them. It’s how strong they are defensively.

“Those front three forwards that they’ve got, they’ll cause Liverpool a lot of problems.”

Liverpool were 1-0 winners against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium in the Premier League on the opening weekend of the season after Philippe Coutinho’s late winner.
