Arsene Wenger says Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil should be fit for the visit of Chelsea next Sunday.

The Germany international was sidelined for the north London side’s goalless draw with Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Ozil was recovering from an inflammation of his foot following Arsenal’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League mid-week.

However, Arsenal manager Wenger reassured concerned supporters that Ozil should be fine when Chelsea make the trip to the Emirates Stadium next weekend.

“I think so. He should be alright. He was not 100 per cent because of an inflammation of his foot. It was nothing too bad. Overall, he should be ready,” Wenger told BBC Radio 5 Live.

The German playmaker has scored three goals and has made 16 assists in 20 Premier League games so far this season.

The World Cup winner moved to Arsenal from Real Madrid in a club-record £42.5m deal in 2013 but has only won back-to-back FA Cup crowns.
