Liverpool are lining up a £37m bid to sign Mario Gotze from Bayern Munich this summer, according to reports.

Gotze has been touted as a possible target for the Merseyside outfit in recent weeks as Jurgen Klopp considers bolstering his Reds squad at Anfield.

The World Cup winner is currently out injured until February, making a January transfer unlikely – but the Daily Mirror reports that Liverpool are poised to step up their interest in the 23-year-old at the end of the season.

Gotze’s contract with Bayern Munich expires in 2017 and he has yet to open talks over a new deal, the British newspaper reports.

The Germany international, who scored the winning goal in the World Cup final to beat Argentina in 2014, has struggled to break into the Bayern team under Pep Guardiola since joining the Bundesliga outfit in the summer of 2013.
