Mario Gotze looked in good spirits as he posed for a picture with Rafael Nadal as the Spaniard geared up for his Qatar Open final showdown with Novak Djokovic on Saturday.

The Bayern Munich star is reported to be a target for the Merseyside outfit, with the Reds believed to be lining up a £37m bid to sign the World Cup winner in the summer transfer window.

Gotze is currently in Qatar with his Bayern team-mates at a training camp as he works on his fitness following a lengthy lay-off with an injury.

And he looked to be in a good mood as he posed for a picture with Nadal, and his Bayern team-mates Robert Lewandowski and Manuel Neuer.

Gotze posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote: “Qatar! @manuelneuer @_rl9 @rafaelnadal #partofmario”
