Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Colchester v Tottenham

Mark Lawrenson says Tottenham Hotspur should comfortably book their place in FA Cup fifth round

Mark Lawrenson is tipping Tottenham Hotspur to ease to a comfortable victory over Colchester United in the FA Cup fourth round.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been in impressive form over the past month or so in the Premier League.

Spurs were 4-1 winners against Sunderland in their penultimate top-flight game before a 3-1 win at Crystal Palace last weekend.

Unsurprisingly, former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland defender Lawrenson doesn’t envisage Colchester causing Spurs too many problems in Saturday’s early kick-off at Colchester Community Stadium.

Lawrenson told BBC Sport: “Colchester are on a dreadful run in League One, and are bottom of the table without a league win since 20 October.

“I would expect Tottenham to rest most of their first-choice team, but I would still expect them to win comfortably.”

Tottenham are being increasingly talked up as title contenders after Spurs moved to within five points of Premier League leaders Leicester City.

Pochettino’s side make the trip to Colchester in the FA Cup in Saturday’s early kick-off before the north London side face Norwich City at Carrow Road on Tuesday night.
