Paul Merson is tipping Chelsea to cruise into the FA Cup fifth round by beating MK Dons on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues head into the game fresh from their impressive 1-0 win over Arsenal at Emirates Stadium last weekend and looking to keep their FA Cup hopes alive.

With Chelsea’s Premier League title defence in tatters, the Blues’ last remaining hopes of ending the season with a trophy come in the FA Cup and Champions League.

And former Arsenal man Merson is thoroughly expecting Chelsea to ease to a 4-0 win at MK Dons on Sunday in the fourth-round clash.

Merson told Sky Sports: “What are Chelsea playing for this season?

“They can’t get in the top four, really. I know John Terry says they can, but they have to catch Spurs, who have a chance of winning the league. So if they can catch Spurs they have a chance of winning the league themselves!

“For me, the FA Cup is what they are playing for along with the Champions League.”

Chelsea are currently 13th in the Premier League table after a disastrous start to the season under Jose Mourinho.

Guus Hiddink has since been placed in temporary charge following Mourinho’s dismissal last month, with the Blues set to travel to Watford in their next Premier League game on Wednesday 3 February.
