Daniel Sturridge has sent a message to injured Liverpool defender Joe Gomez ahead of Tuesday night’s League Cup semi-final.

The England striker was sidelined for the Merseyside outfit’s dramatic 5-4 victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Sturridge has endured an injury-hit 2015/16 season following a string of fitness problems which has limited Sturridge to two appearances under Jurgen Klopp.

England Under-21 international Gomez, who moved to Liverpool from Charlton Athletic in the summer, hasn’t yet to feature under the German since picking up a knee injury.

And Sturridge posted a selfie of Gomez on his Instagram page as the young defender donned the striker’s personalised baseball cap of his infamous goal celebration.

Sturridge wrote: “My g… @joegomez5”

The England man moved to Liverpool in a £12m deal from defending Premier League champions Chelsea in January 2013.
