Frank Lampard has praised John Terry for standing up and being counted after the Chelsea captain scored a 98th-minute equaliser to rescue a 3-3 draw with Everton.

The Chelsea centre-half’s Saturday afternoon didn’t get off to the best start after his own goal before Belgium international Kevin Mirallas put Everton 2-0 up at Stamford Bridge.

However, the defending Premier League champions scored twice in quick succession to level the game thanks to Chelsea striker Diego Costa and Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas’ effort.

But the Toffees appeared to have wrapped up three points when Funes Mori latched onto Gerard Deulofeu’s cross and placed a finish past Thibaut Courtois.

Terry, though, scored in the eighth minute of added time to rescue a point for the reigning Premier League champions in west London.

Former Chelsea midfielder Lampard was impressed with his former team-mate’s relentless heroics and posted the following message on Instagram:

“Sometimes you need the big boys to stand up. Centre half and captain in the box in the last minute to score the equaliser 👍⚽️⚽️ @johnterry.26”
