The Reds have been relentlessly linked with a move to sign the Brazilian in recent days as Jurgen Klopp considers bolstering his attacking options at Anfield.
The player himself recently admitted that he would love to secure a move to Liverpool during the January transfer window and link up for Brazil team-mate Philippe Coutinho at Anfield.
The stumbling block in the potential deal is said to be Shakhtar’s valuation of the player, with the Ukrainian club reported to be holding out for as much as £53m.
Now, the Daily Mail is reporting that Liverpool are planning to make one final enquiry about the availability of Teixeira before the transfer deadline at 23:00 GMT on Monday night.
The same newspaper story also says that Teixeira has been attracting interest from clubs in China in recent days.
Liverpool travel to Leicester City in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
The latest news on Teixeira’s potential transfer to Anfield comes after John Barnes insisted that he would not be surprised to see the club wrap up a late deal for the player before the deadline.
