The Reds head into the game after suffering a 2-1 defeat by West Ham United in their FA Cup fourth-round replay and following their 2-2 draw with Sunderland last weekend.
Liverpool have struggled to find consistent form since Jurgen Klopp’s appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor at Anfield back in October.
The Reds have only won three of their last 10 Premier League games and are currently languishing in ninth place in the table.
However, former Everton man Gray is fully expecting to see Klopp’s men return to winning ways when they take on relegation favourites Villa on Sunday afternoon.
Writing in his blog for Paddy Power, Gray said: “Liverpool always beat Villa at Villa Park, I know that from my history. And I think it’ll happen again.
“Liverpool rested a lot of players mid week so tiredness doesn’t come into it for me.
“I think Danny Sturridge being back is huge for Jurgen Klopp, if he can get firing again we could see them make a late charge for Europe. Back him to open the scoring and Liverpool to head back down the M6 with a win.”
Liverpool, who finished sixth last season, take on Manchester City at Wembley in the League Cup final later this month.
