Emmanuel Adebayor responds when asked if he would celebrate against Tottenham

Emmanuel Adebayor has insisted that he would have no qualms in celebrating a goal against Tottenham Hotspur as he prepares to face his former club with Crystal Palace this weekend.

Former Spurs striker Adebayor joined the Eagles on a free transfer during the January window and could line up against his old club at White Hart Lane in Sunday’s FA Cup fifth-round clash.

Adebayor, 31, has scored one Premier League goal for Palace since making his return to the English top flight last month.

And the former Arsenal striker insists that would definitely celebrate if he found the net against Mauricio Pochettino’s side on Sunday.

Adebayor is quoted as saying by the Daily Express: “I play football, why am I not going to celebrate against Tottenham?.

“Today I don’t play for Tottenham. Scoring goals is what I do best in my career. If I score against Tottenham, trust me, I’m going to celebrate.

“If I’m on the pitch and I score and not going to celebrate I would rather tell the manager I’m not going to play because what is the point of being on the pitch, scoring goals and not celebrating?”

Spurs head into Sunday’s game having played out a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 clash on Thursday night.

The Lilywhites are currently second in the Premier League table after their impressive 2-1 win at Manchester City last weekend.
