The Frenchman has made the holding midfield position his own in recent months and was a regular fixture in the starting line-up before he suffered a knee injury back in November.
Coquelin has returned to action for the Gunners in recent weeks and started Sunday’s 2-1 win over Leicester City at The Emirates on Sunday.
And the midfielder is now determined to prove his worth to the north London club between now and the end of the season as he bids to help the Gunners win their first Premier League title since the 2003-04 campaign.
Coquelin is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror: “He [Arsene Wenger] is a great manager.
“He’s won everything and he always goes for younger players which is why I came here. He’s not scared to play younger players.”
“It’s massive when you know the manager has your back and confidence in you. It’s a big thing and every time I play I want to give something back to him because he gave me my chance. Now I want to do really well for Arsenal.”
The midfielder will be hoping to feature when Arsenal host Hull City in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Emirates Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.
