Hazard, like many of his Chelsea team-mates, has struggled to produce consistent performances for the west London club this season but played the full 90 minutes as the Blues romped to victory over the Magpies in west London.
The 25-year-old did not get on the scoresheet but produced an improved display to help Chelsea wrap up a thumping victory in front of their home fans.
And Hiddink was pleased with Hazard’s display following the playmaker’s recent injury lay-off with a groin injury.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Saturday, Hiddink said: “I’m happy Eden played 90 minutes, that’s why we brought him to a higher level step by step, I think that will benefit him a lot.
“Let’s see how he can perform on Tuesday.”
Premier League champions Chelsea do not have too long to recover as they turn their attentions to the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash against Paris Saint-Germain in France on Tuesday night.
