Jamie Carragher feels that Arsenal and Tottenham now have the initiative in the Premier League title race after both north London sides claimed important victories on Sunday.

Substitute Danny Welbeck scored the winner Arsenal came from a goal down to beat Leicester City 2-1 at Emirates Stadium as they closed the gap to the leaders down to two points.

However, the Gunners dropped down into third place in the Premier League table after Tottenham beat Manchester City 2-1 at The Etihad thanks to Christian Eriksen’s late winner.

Leicester are still two points clear of Spurs and Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table heading into the final 12 games of the season.

However, former Liverpool defender Carragher now places both of the north London sides ahead of the Foxes in the race for the title.

Speaking on Sky Sports after Sunday’s games, Carragher said: “I think it’s been a massive day for Spurs and Arsenal today.

“Psychologically for Leicester, even though their still top of the league… I can see Arsenal or Spurs winning it now.”
