Terry announced on Sunday that he expects to leave the west London club at the end of the season after being told that Chelsea do not plan to renew his contract.
I’d have him at Liverpool tomorrow
The 35-year-old has been with the Blues since the age of 14 and has played 696 games for the club, winning four Premier League titles, five FA Cups and the Champions League.
Liverpool legend Carragher admits that he was shocked to hear about Terry’s imminent departure from the club and says that the Blues are set to find it extremely difficult to replace the centre-half.
Carragher told the Daily Mail: “I’m shocked. He’s Chelsea’s best centre back.
“Why have they allowed this to happen? This will be like Manchester United trying to find a replacement for Roy Keane.”
The former England international added: “I’d have him at Liverpool tomorrow.”
Despite Terry’s claims that he is set to leave the club in the summer, a Chelsea spokesman later said that he could still be offered a new deal.
