Jamie Carragher says Tottenham Hotspur should be pleased with a “good result” on Sunday after Crystal Palace knocked Spurs out of the FA Cup.

Martin Kelly scored a first-half winner to book the Eagles’s place in the FA Cup quarter-final draw and eliminate Tottenham from the competition.

Spurs are currently flying high in second place in the Premier League table following a 2-1 win at title rivals Manchester City at The Etihad last weekend.

Tottenham host Fiorentina at The Lane in the second leg of their Europa League last-32 clash on Thursday night before Swansea City make the trip to north London on Sunday.

Former Liverpool defender Carragher appeared to suggest that Tottenham’s exit from the FA Cup could boost their prospects in the Premier League and the Europa League.

Tottenham are in second place in the Premier League table and two points behind surprise leaders Leicester City.
