John W Henry’s wife has taken to Twitter to congratulate Sunderland on their 2-1 victory over Manchester United on Sunday.

The Red Devils slumped to a disappointing loss at the Stadium of Light to leave United facing a major uphill battle to secure a top four finish this season.

Wahbi Khazri gave the home side the lead but Anthony Martial equalised shortly before half-time.

However, the Black Cats took all three points when the ball bounced over the line off David De Gea’s back eight minutes from time.

The disappointing defeat left United fifth in the Premier League table and six points behind Manchester City, but the gap to the top four could be as much as nine points after this weekend’s round of fixtures.

Liverpool could move to within three points of United with victory over Aston Villa on Sunday – and Henry’s wife Linda was quick to offer her congratulations to the Black Cats on Twitter.
