City, meanwhile, were 3-1 winners over Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Merseyside outfit will desperate to lift a trophy in Klopp’s first season in charge at Anfield.

And former Arsenal star Merson is backing the Reds to triumph over the Sky Blues at Wembley – especially if they are able to make a fast start.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday afternoon, Merson said: “If Liverpool start well, Liverpool win it.

“The longer the game goes on, I think Man City will have just a little bit too much.

“But I think Liverpool will win.”
