Lord Sugar took to social media to admit that he had “forgotten” about Danny Welbeck before the striker came off the bench to score Arsenal’s dramatic winner in their 2-1 victory over Leicester City on Sunday.

With the score level at 1-1 following Theo Walcott’s equaliser at Emirates Stadium, former Manchester United striker Welbeck headed home Mesut Ozil’s free-kick to bag the three points for the Gunners.

It was Welbeck’s first appearance of the season for the north London club after the striker underwent knee surgery back in September.

And it appears that his lengthy lay-off caused former Tottenham Hotspur chairman to completely forget about the forward.

As Welbeck prepared to come on at The Emirates, Lord Sugar tweeted:

And Lord Sugar won’t be forgetting about Welbeck again in a hurry after he headed in the winner to spark wild scenes of celebration at the final whistle.

He tweeted after the winner:
