Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Felipe Anderson after the Lazio owner confirmed a deal has been agreed for the Brazilian.

The Red Devils were heavily linked with a move for the Lazio midfielder during the January transfer window but a big-money switch failed to materialise.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has scored six goals in 24 Serie A appearances for the Italian side so far this season.

Speaking to Calciomercato on Monday, Lazio owner and chairman Claudio Lotito confirmed that United had agreed a £47m deal to sign the South American playmaker in the summer.

“Felipe Anderson will move to Manchester United next season, for €60 million (£47million),” Lotito told Calciomercato.

“I bought Felipe Anderson for €8 million, and I’ve already sold him on for €60 million.”

Serie A expert James Horncastle appeared to confirm Lotito’s statement on his Twitter page.

Anderson scored 10 times in 32 Serie A appearances for Lazio in his second season in Italy’s top flight.

Lazio signed Anderson in a £6m deal from Brazilian club Santos in 2013.

The Silver Eagles playmaker has only made one appearance for the Brazil national team.

Anderson made his debut in a 2-0 victory over Mexico in a friendly ahead of last summer’s Copa America.
