Manchester United a lining up a £70m bid for Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, according to reports.

United suffered yet another blow to their hopes of securing a top-four finish this season after they slumped to a 2-1 defeat by Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon.

That result left Louis van Gaal’s men six points behind Manchester City, who could pull nine points clear of their bitter local rivals if they beat Tottenham on Sunday.

United are expected to spend big during the summer transfer window as they look to bolster their squad with proven talent.

And it appears that Aubameyang is one of the club’s top targets, with the 26-year-old having already scored 27 goals for Dortmund so far this season.

The Daily Mail reports that United are ready to part with as much as £70m to sign the centre-forward this summer.
