The Gunners head into the game looking to return to winning ways after the disappointment of their 2-0 loss to Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Arsenal are currently third in the Premier League table and two points behind leaders Leicester as they look to win their first title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 season.
And former Liverpool man Souness is tipping the Gunners to claim victory against a depleted Manchester United side at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Souness said on Sky Sports News HQ: “When it comes down to it, I think Arsenal will have too much for United on Sunday.
“Louis van Gaal will have taken positives from Thursday, but they were playing an ordinary European team.
“For Arsenal, it’s time to put the Barcelona game out of their minds. They have to park their disappointment because it’s onwards on upwards.”
Arsenal were 2-1 winners against Leicester City in their most recent Premier League outing, while United were beaten 2-1 by Sunderland.
The north London side secured a convincing 3-0 victory over United when the two teams last met at Emirates Stadium earlier in the season.
