Martin Keown has criticised Aaron Ramsey for not doing his defensive duties in the second half as Arsenal slumped to a 3-2 defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Wales international midfielder failed to keep tabs on Ander Herrera as the Spaniard fired home the Red Devils’ third goal to put the result beyond doubt at Old Trafford.

And former Arsenal defender Keown was not impressed by Ramsey’s lack of awareness in the build-up to United’s third strike in the game.

Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, Keown said: “Aaron Ramsey is great at sniffing out attacking opportunities but he did not sense the defensive threat and the United midfield could gallop forward with Ander Herrera in acres of space.

“It was far too easy.”

Keown was not the only man to be critical of Ramsey in the wake on Sunday’s loss at Old Trafford, with celebrity fan and Arsenal shareholder Piers Morgan giving the midfielder a less-than-flattering rating on Twitter after the game.
