The Denmark international coolly slotted home Spurs’ winner at the Etihad Stadium as the north London side secured an impressive 2-1 victory over Manchester City to boost their Premier League title hopes on Sunday.
Spurs are now second in the table and just two points behind leaders Leicester City heading into the final 12 games of the season.
And former Arsenal defender Keown feels that Eriksen has been one of Tottenham’s star performers this season and does not get the credit he deserves.
Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, Keown said: “When Harry Kane lined up in the tunnel at the Etihad he had that determination in his eyes. It was the same when he took the penalty. He knew exactly what was needed.
“And with their system — full backs joining the attack with Eric Dier dropping off to form a back three — they can have five or six players forward and overwhelm teams.
“Christian Eriksen popped up all over the place and was majestic. I still don’t think he gets the credit he deserves.”
Keown went on to say that he feels that Spurs are genuine Premier League title contenders this season under Mauricio Pochettino.
He continued: “The players, the manager, the fans, everybody knew what was required and you could feel the belief in the stadium.
“That’s the difference this season. Winning the title is built on belief and I can see it in the eyes of the Tottenham players.”
Tottenham’s next Premier League game is a home clash against Swansea City on Sunday 28 February.
Spurs finished fifth in the league last season.
