Martin Keown believes Tottenham Hotspur are serious Premier League title contenders

Martin Keown says Tottenham Hotspur believe that they can win the Premier League title this season.

Spurs are in second place and only five points adrift of surprise Premier League leaders Leicester City thanks to their 1-0 win against Watford at White Hart Lane last weekend.

Tottenham have won their last four Premier League games, including victories over Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Watford.

Discussing Tottenham’s title chances ahead of Sunday afternoon’s clash against Manchester City at The Etihad, former Arsenal defender Keown insisted there is a growing belief around White Hart Lane that Spurs could win their first Premier League crown.

“I was at Tottenham [last weekend],” Keown told BBC Sport. “Don’t discount them [in the title race].

“There is a feeling in the stadium that they can believe in and is meeting their aspirations.

“They are at one. They love their manager. It was a perfect performance [against Watford]. Tottenham feel they can do win the title as well.”

Tottenham were impressive 4-1 winners against Manuel Pellegrini’s side in the Premier League at White Hart Lane earlier this season.

Harry Kane, Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Erik Lamela all scored in their landslide victory over the Citizens.

Pellegrini’s men lost 3-1 to title rivals Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.
