Bastian Schweinsteiger has taken to social media to wish Phil Jones a happy birthday after the Manchester United defender turned 24 on Sunday.

The England international is currently sidelined due to injury and has not featured for the Red Devils since the 2-1 win over Swansea back at the start of January.

Jones will be hoping to make his comeback in the coming weeks, and Germany international Schweinsteiger was quick to pay tribute to his team-mate on Sunday afternoon.

Schweinsteiger uploaded the photo above onto his personal Instagram account and wrote: “A very happy birthday to @philjones_4. Enjoy your day!”

United are currently gearing up for their FA Cup fifth-round clash with Shrewsbury Town on Monday night.

The Red Devils have been struggling to find consistent form all season and slumped to back to back Premier League and Europa League defeats last week.

Schweinsteiger is currently sidelined with a knee injury but will be hoping to make his return to action in the coming weeks as the Red Devils look to reverse their stuttering form.
