Ben Davies expressed his satisfaction on Instagram after Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Fiorentina in the first leg of their Europa League last-32.

The Wales international played a key role in Florence after the former Swansea City full-back won a first-half penalty, which Nacer Chadli emphatically converted to give Spurs a slender lead.

However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side were unable to prevent the Serie A side from levelling the tie after Federico Bernardeschi equalised in the 59th minute.

But the 22-year-old’s spirits weren’t dampened by Fiorentina’s leveller after he took to Instagram on Friday to reflect on a positive result.

Davies wrote on his Instagram page: “Vital away goal to bring home! Tough game last night, thanks to all travelling fans! 🙌 #COYS”

The Welsh defender has made two assists in 13 Premier League games for the north London side so far this season.

Davies has made a further seven appearances in the Europa League and the FA Cup for Pochettino’s side.
