The Switzerland international was part of Arsene Wenger’s side that secured their only victory over the La Liga champions in the Champions League era in 2011.

Andrey Arshavin and Robin van Persie cancelled out David Villa’s goal to seal a famous 2-1 victory, although Barcelona were 3-1 winners in the second leg.

Djourou proved that he still an Arsenal supporter despite leaving the north London club in 2014 after the 29-year-old took to his Instagram account ahead of Tuesday night’s game.

Djorou wrote: “Good luck tonight @arsenal and @koscielny_official6 and all the boys vs @fcbarcelona tonight, I am sure you guys will make the stadium rock like in 2011. #arsenalvsbarcelona #whatagame #greatmemories #gunners”
