Alexandre Pato wasn’t holding back in training on Thursday as the Chelsea signing battled with Gary Cahill ahead of Saturday’s game against Newcastle United.

The Brazil international is still waiting to make his first appearance for the defending Premier League champions following his move to Stamford Bridge last month.

Pato swapped Corinthians for Chelsea in a loan deal until the end of the 2015/16 despite being previously linked with a switch to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

The South American posted a snap from training at Cobham on Thursday afternoon ahead of the visit of Newcastle in Saturday’s late kick-off.

Chelsea captain John Terry also appeared in high spirits despite his Blues future being up in the air after the veteran defender revealed that the west London side hadn’t offered the centre-half a new deal last month.

Beautiful day at cobham today. @chelseafc ⚽️
