Ray Wilkins says there is something special about Tottenham Hotspur this season.

Spurs have emerged as candidates to win the Premier League title after the north London side moved to within two points of leaders Leicester City thanks to their 2-1 win against rivals Manchester City last weekend.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have won their last five Premier League games after victories over Sunderland, Norwich City, Watford, Crystal Palace and Manuel Pellegrini’s City over the past few weeks.

Former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder Wilkins praised Tottenham’s work ethic ahead of their FA Cup fifth-round clash against Palace at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Wilkins told BT Sport: “This year, they’re really tough. They have something about them. There is confidence is high.

“Any team that Pochettino picks has a great work ethic coupled with good players.”

Tottenham secured a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie in Florence on Thursday night.
