Eric Dier has warned his Tottenham Hotspur team-mates not to get carried away by their position in the Premier League table as they prepare for their crunch clash at Manchester City this weekend.

The north London side have been in consistent form in recent weeks and moved up to second place in the top-flight table thanks to their 1-0 win over Watford on Saturday afternoon.

Spurs are being touted as genuine contenders for the Premier League title this season, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men earning plenty of new admirers for their impressive performances.

The Lilywhites are currently five points behind leaders Leicester City heading into the final 13 games of the season.

However, Dier has moved to play down talk of the title as he and his team-mates prepare for their trip to Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking to the London Evening Standard, Dier said: “We’re not going to deny that we’re obviously very happy in second but we know there’s a long way to go.

“We’re just going to continue on the path we’ve been on so far.”
