Michael Owen is backing Tottenham to book their place in the last 16 of the Europa League by beating Fiorentina at White Hart Lane on Thursday night.

Spurs head into the game having drawn 1-1 with the Serie A outfit in Italy last week and following the disappointment of their FA Cup exit at the hands of Crystal Palace at the weekend.

The north London side have been one of the Premier League’s most consistent teams this season and have underlined their status as genuine title contenders in recent weeks.

And former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Owen is backing the Lilywhites to reach the next phase of Europe’s second tier club competition by beating Fiorentina on Thursday.

Writing in his blog for Bet Victor, Owen said: “Spurs are now challenging for Trophies on just two fronts after their FA Cup loss to Palace, but they had a great result in Florence last week and I expect them to ease through in what promises to be a fabulous night at White Hart Lane.

“The Viola had a terrific win at Atalanta on Sunday and are a good side but Spurs can bounce back from their weekend loss to the Eagles.”
