Aaron Ramsey admitted that he took great pleasure in silencing the Tottenham fans after he scored Arsenal’s opener in Saturday’s north London derby at White Hart Lane.

The Wales international brilliant flicked home Hector Bellerin’s low cross to give the Gunners the lead in the derby showdown.

Arsenal were reduced to 10 men when Francis Coquelin was sent off shortly after the break.

Spurs then scored twice in quick succession to take the lead, but Alexis Sanchez netted a late equaliser for the visitors.

Ramsey celebrated his strike by putting his finger to his lips, and the midfielder lifted the lid on his reaction to scoring after the game.

Ramsey told Arsenal’s website: “I was getting a lot of stick on the side so when it goes against them it’s good to give it back to them sometimes.

“In the end I was fully concentrated and I was happy to score my goal.”

Saturday’s draw left Arsenal third in the Premier League table and three points behind Tottenham heading into the final nine games of the season.
