Michael Owen is tipping Tottenham Hotspur to return to winning ways in the Premier League by beating struggling Aston Villa a Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.

The north London side were left frustrated last weekend as they squandered a 2-1 lead against 10-man Arsenal to draw 2-2 with their bitter local rivals at White Hart Lane.

That result left Spurs second in the Premier League table and five points behind leaders Leicester City heading into the final nine games of the season as they bid to catch the Foxes.

And former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen is fully expecting to see the Lilywhites secure victory at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.

Writing in his column for Bet Victor, Owen said: “A game you feel Spurs have to win if they are to maintain a credible title challenge and I think they will.

“Mauricio Pochettino’s men have a good recent record at Villa Park and I have been impressed in recent weeks by Erik Lamela who is taken to find the back of the Villa net on Sunday.”

Spurs finished fifth under Mauricio Pochettino last season but have been touted as genuine contenders for the Premier League title this term.

They are currently three points ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League table.
