Emmanuel Petit believes that Arsenal should consider signing N’Golo Kante from Leicester City in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have faced plenty of criticism for their below par performances in recent weeks and head into their Champions League showdown with Barcelona having only won one of their last seven outings in all competitions.

Arsenal are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his squad following their poor run of form.

And former Arsenal star Petit feels that Kante would be a smart signing for the north London club, who have not won the Premier League title since 2004.

Petit is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail: “He is a warrior, but as well, he is very intelligent, tactically. For me, he reminds me of (Claude) Makelele, the way he plays, the way he reads the display from the opponents.

“He is very intelligent as well when he gets the ball at his feet, he doesn’t often lose the ball, he wins so many tackles, interceptions, his reading of the game is perfect.

“I’m not in Arsene’s mind, but I’m pretty sure he is working already for the next season, on transfers.”

Arsenal were dumped out of the FA Cup at the hands of Watford on Sunday afternoon.
