Arsenal took the lead in the 39th minute when Aaron Ramsey’s flick beat Hugo Lloris at White Hart Lane.
However, the north London side were reduced to 10 men when Francis Coquelin was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 55th minute.
Spurs equalised moments later when Toby Alderweireld fired home, and Harry Kane’s superb strike in the 62nd minute handed the home side the lead.
However, Arsenal battled hard and earned a point after Alexis Sanchez fired in from Hector Bellerin’s through-ball.
Speaking on BT Sport after the final whistle, Hoddle said: “It was a very, very good Premier League game.
“Spurs came out of the traps and played really well in the first 30 minutes without creating enough really.
“When they went down to 10 men, Arsenal actually improved their performance.”
The result left Tottenham second in the Premier League table and three points behind Leicester – who play Watford later on Saturday – while Arsenal are third and remain three points behind their bitter local rivals.
