Vertonghen has been sidelined with a knee injury since January when the 27-year-old was forced off during Tottenham’s 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
The Belgium international had formed an impressive centre-half partnership with Tottenham’s summer signing and his compatriot Toby Alderweireld.
The former Ajax defender is thought to be close to a return to action ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Liverpool on Saturday evening.
And Vertonghen gave Roma’s Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan and Tottenham supporters some positive news on Twitter on Tuesday night.
