Jan Vertonghen has handed Tottenham Hotspur an injury boost ahead of Thursday’s Europa League clash against Borussia Dortmund.

The Belgium international hasn’t featured for the north London side since the centre-half injured his knee in Tottenham’s 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in January.

Mauricio Pochettino has been relying upon Kevin Wimmer in Vertonghen’s absence but the former Ajax defender is slowly edging towards a return to full fitness.

The 28-year-old took to Twitter on Sunday afternoon to confirm that he has kicked his first ball in training since his injury ahead of Tottenham’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Pochettino’s side host Dortmund in the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie at White Hart Lane on Thursday night.
Spurs lost 3-0 to the Bundesliga side last week.
