Juan Mata issues rallying cry ahead of Man Utd v Everton

Juan Mata sends a message to his Manchester United team-mates ahead of next Sunday's Everton clash

Juan Mata has urged Manchester United to build upon their derby success when the Red Devils host Everton at Old Trafford next Sunday.

The 20-time English champions ended a miserable run in all competitions at The Etihad earlier this month after a 1-0 victory over Manchester City.

United teenager Marcus Rashford scored a 16th-minute winner to seal three points for Louis van Gaal’s side at the Etihad Stadium.

The Red Devils are in fifth place in the Premier League table and a point behind fourth-placed City in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.

Writing in his blog One Hour Behind, the Spain international demanded that his team-mates win their second successive Premier League against Everton this coming weekend.

“It’s time to focus again on the Premier League,” Mata wrote.

“Everton will be our rival the next Sunday and we want to get another three points after the important win over City just before the international break.”

The Red Devils finished in a respectable fourth place in the Premier League table in Van Gaal’s first season in charge at the three-time European champions.
