Arsene Wenger has played down concerns about Mesut Ozil’s fitness levels after the Arsenal playmaker hobbled off during the second half of Saturday’s 2-0 win at Everton.

The Germany playmaker was in good form for the north Londoners as Wenger’s men secured a convincing win on Merseyside to keep themselves in the Premier League title race.

Ozil suffered an ankle problem during the second half at Goodison Park and limped off late in the game.

But Wenger moved to ease fears about Ozil’s problem when addressing the media after the game.

Speaking at his post-match news conference, Gunners boss Wenger said: “It is an ankle problem, but it looks more of a kick than an ankle problem.”
