Manchester United sent scouts to watch Benfica midfielder Renato Sanches in action on Saturday night during their clash with Sporting Lisbon, as the Red Devils ponder a big-money summer bid for the player, according to reports.

United are widely expected to be one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window as they look to transform themselves back into top-flight title contenders after a disappointing season thus far under Louis van Gaal.

Sanches has long been linked with a possible transfer to the Premier League and was touted as a potential target for the Red Devils during the January window.

Now, it appears that United are ready to step up their interest in the player, and the Daily Mail reports that the English club are in talks to sign the £46m-rated youngster.
