Anthony Martial has brushed off suggestions that he could be set to quit Manchester United and join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window by insisting that he wants to help restore the Red Devils to the pinnacle of English football.

The French striker has been one of the Red Devils’ standout performers this season since his arrival at the club from Monaco in the summer transfer window.

Martial has been a regular fixture in Louis van Gaal’s first team and has scored seven goals in the Premier League to help United to within one point of the top four.

Whilst qualification for next season’s Champions League is now United’s primary objective, Martial has insisted that he wants to stay at the club and help them challenge for the title next season.

Asked if he would consider quitting United to join PSG, Martial told RTL: “They (United) are not at the top of the top, but I hope next year they will be.”

Asked about his big transfer fee, he added: “I was just happy to go to Manchester. For what was said in the media, I did not listen, it was more my family that was a bit taken aback by the whole thing.

“But I simply concentrated on the pitch in order to be ready for the right moment.”
