Paul Ince says Manchester United will have to be at their best if they want to stop Liverpool from scoring during Thursday’s crunch Europa League clash at Old Trafford.

Louis van Gaal’s men head into the game needing to overturn a 2-0 first-leg deficit after their comprehensive defeat by Liverpool at Anfield last week.

The Red Devils know that they will have to score four goals if Liverpool find the net at Old Trafford on Thursday.

And former United man Ince feels that the Red Devils’ toughest task will be keeping keeping Liverpool’s potent attackers quiet.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Ince said: “They [United] need to replicate their fantastic performance against Arsenal.

“If they can score a goal in the first half there’s no reason they can’t score a goal in the second.

“But can you stop Liverpool from scoring? Can you stop those front three, [Philippe] Coutinho, [Roberto] Firmino and [Daniel] Sturridge? I’m not too sure, especially with a makeshift defence.”

Liverpool have had a free weekend to prepare for Thursday’s clash, while United had to battle back from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw with West Ham and force a replay in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
