Mark Lawrenson is tipping West Ham to heap further misery on Manchester United by frustrating the Red Devils in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final clash at Old Trafford.

Louis van Gaal’s men head into the game looking to return to winning ways after they suffered a 2-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 clash on Thursday night.

United have now suffered back to back defeats after their 1-0 loss at West Brom in the Premier League last weekend.

And former Liverpool star Lawrenson is backing West Ham to seal a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford and win the replay to knock the Red Devils out of the FA Cup.

Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “This is going to be a tough one for Manchester United because West Ham are on a roll at the moment.

“The Hammers do not let teams bully them away from home and they are great at coming from behind in games. They can take the tie back to Upton Park – and I fancy them to win it there.”

United are currently sixth in the Premier League table and 13 points behind leaders Leicester City heading into the final nine games of the season.
