Martin Keown: Why Tottenham are still my title favourites

Martin Keown explains why he still believes Tottenham Hotspur are in a strong position to win the Premier League

Martin Keown insists Tottenham Hotspur are still favourites to win the Premier League title despite their setback at Upton Park.

Mauricio Pochettino’s lost their first game in seven outings on Wednesday night after Michail Antonio netted a seventh-minute winner for West Ham United in the London derby.

However, Spurs are still only three points behind leaders Leicester City after the Foxes were held to a 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion earlier this week at the King Power Stadium.

Tottenham host Arsenal in Saturday’s north London derby as both clubs look to recover from their mid-week setbacks and provide Leicester with sustained competition for the title.

Former Arsenal defender Keown played down the potential impact of their loss to West Ham on Tottenham’s prospects of winning a first Premier League crown.

“I still feel that Spurs are in a strong position,” Keown told Daily Mail.

“Psychologically yes, they will be disappointed after missing the chance to go top. But they have been in such good form that I wouldn’t have thought they will worry too much about getting back on track. As long as they leave it until after the weekend!”

Tottenham lost 2-1 to Leicester in the Premier League in January before Spurs beat Sunderland, Norwich City, Crystal Palace, Watford, Manchester City and Swansea City.
