Mesut Ozil has issued his backing for under-pressure Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

According to reports in the British media on Tuesday, Arsenal’s club-record signing was thought to be considering a summer move away from The Emirates if Wenger remains as the Gunners manager beyond the end of the season.

Arsenal crashed out of the Champions League last week following a 5-1 aggregate defeat by Barcelona just days after losing 2-1 to Watford in their FA Cup semi-final.

However, the World Cup winner took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to quash the recent transfer speculation and underline his respect for the Gunners manager.

Ozil is Wenger’s most-expensive signing since the Frenchman took over the reins at the north London club in 1996.

The Germany international was part of the Arsenal sides that secured back-to-back FA Cup triumphs in 2014 and 2015.
