Michael Duberry says Chelsea could perform a U-turn over their captain John Terry.

The 34-year-old defender revealed that the defending Premier League champions won’t be offering their skipper a new deal when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Terry is set to miss Chelsea’s second leg against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last-16 clash at Stamford Bridge due to a hamstring injury.

However, Terry’s former team-mate Duberry is optimistic Chelsea might change their mind and keep the ex-England captain at Stamford Bridge.

“It’s the way the club [Chelsea] is going,” Duberry told Play With A Legend.

“I think they might do a U-turn because of the reaction. They’ve got no one to replace him. They are going in a different direction, and it depends on the new manager coming in.

“They might do a U-turn but there is a small, small chance of that happening.”

They are unbeaten in seven home games against French opposition and have kept five clean sheets. The sole exception before last season’s 2-2 draw with Paris was another 2-2 draw, with AS Monaco FC in the 2003/04 Champions League semi-final second leg, prompting a 5-3 aggregate loss.

The Londoners beat an FC Girondins de Bordeaux outfit coached by Laurent Blanc 4-0 at home on matchday one of the 2008/09 competition before a 1-1 draw in France.
