Michael Owen reserved special praise for Alex Iwobi as he picked the teenager as his man of the match in Arsenal’s 2-0 win at Everton on Saturday.

The 19-year-old was in impressive form for the Gunners as the north London side dominated proceedings at Goodison Park and returned to winning ways in the Premier League.

Iwobi scored Arsenal’s second goal as he got on the scoresheet on his first Premier League start for the Gunners.

And after Iwobi also impressed against Barcelona in midweek, former Liverpool striker Owen selected the teenager as his man of the match in Arsenal’s victory at Everton.

Speaking during BT Sport’s coverage of Arsenal’s clash at Everton, Owen said: “I just think he’s been brilliant since he’s come into the side.

“He has loads of energy, he’s a strong runner and a good passer of the ball.

“He played well in midweek and he played well again today.”

Arsenal now turn their attentions towards their next Premier League game – a home clash with Watford on Saturday 2 April after the international break.
