Paul Merson singles out Christian Eriksen for special praise ahead of Tottenham v Bournemouth

Paul Merson has heaped praise on Christian Eriksen as Tottenham prepare for their clash with Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Denmark international has been one of Spurs’ most consistent performers this season, with his sparkling displays helping the north London side up to second place in the Premier League table and five points behind leaders Leicester.

The playmaker has been included on the three-man shortlist for the PFA player of the month award for February.

The 24-year-old has been in fine form this season, scoring five goals and making eight assists for the north London side in the Premier League.

And former Arsenal man Merson believes that the Dane deserves plenty of credit for helping Tottenham mount a serious Premier League title challenge this season.

Merson told Sky Sports: “A top player. Christian Eriksen has been extremely consistent for Tottenham.

“He gets big goals for them, good assists and that’s what you need from your big players when you are near the top of the Premier League.

“You have to keep performing when the pressure is on and he’s doing that.”
