Adam Lallana says he is looking forward to his return to Southampton after the Liverpool midfielder helped Jurgen Klopp’s side progress to the Europa League quarter-final.

The England international started Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Europa League on Thursday night as Philippe Coutinho cancelled out Anthony Martial’s penalty.

The Reds booked their place in the last-eight draw after Liverpool were 2-0 winners against United in the first leg at Anfield last week.

Lallana will hope to continue his fine form ahead of Sunday’s trip to Southampton in the Premier league at St Mary’s.

Lallana wrote on his Instagram page: “Job done last night! Time to recover over the next couple of days and looking forward to the match on Sunday”

Lallana moved to Liverpool from Southampton in a £25m deal in 2014 after an impressive couple of seasons in the Premier League.
